Ski Week Finder, for UK skiers

Where should we ski this winter?

Pick your week and airport, say who's going and what you can spend, and the finder ranks 33 European resorts for you: how likely the snow is that week, what the week really costs, how long the journey is from your airport, and who flies you there.

  • Mid-winter: snow is normal almost everywhere, so the terrain and your group decide more than the altitude.
  • Low season: January-level package prices. No UK school holidays. Cold, quiet, good value
  • Budget £1,500 a head covering the package, lift passes, hire, lessons, staying in a 3-star hotel or catered chalet. Up to 10% over counts as close; beyond that a resort drops out.

Before you book: these are estimates from published prices and historical snow, not quotes or forecasts. Package prices are worked back from the operators' published 2026/27 prices; the operator's live price is always right. Snow confidence is worked out from altitude, aspect, snowmaking and past seasons, and no resort can promise snow. Check the operator is ATOL or ABTA protected, and buy winter sports travel insurance. This page is reader-supported. Where an operator, hire shop, transfer firm or insurer has an affiliate programme, the link to it is an affiliate link: if you book through one, I earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Resorts are ranked by snow, suitability, cost and travel time against your answers, never by commission. Resort data, lift pass prices and package bands were compiled on 5 November 2026 from the resorts' and operators' published figures and are estimates until checked; the operator's page is always right.

Common questions

How is snow confidence worked out?

Mostly from altitude: the share of pistes above 2,000 m, the top lift and the height of the main skiing. Then whether the slopes face north, whether there's a glacier, how much of the area has snowmaking, and the average snowfall. Finally the week: early December and late April are penalised, and the penalty is biggest for low villages. It's a confidence score from history and geography, not a forecast, and no resort can promise snow. Check the resort's own snow report before you go.

What does the estimated cost include?

Whatever you ticked: the package (flights, transfers and half-board or catered accommodation, worked back from the operators' own 2026/27 prices and adjusted for your week and airport), a 6-day lift pass at the resort's published price (free for young children where the resort does that), ski and boot hire, group lessons for anyone marked as wanting them, and lunch and a drink each day if you ticked it. Children are costed at child rates. It's a planning figure, not a quote.

Why is February half term so expensive?

Because every family in the country wants the same week. Operators price half term at roughly double a January week, and the best chalets are gone by October. If you can, the week before the main English half term is cheaper and quieter, and Northern Ireland, some Scottish councils and parts of Wales and the South West break earlier. The finder shades the weeks by which nations are off school.

Which airport should I pick?

The one you'd actually drive to. The finder knows the flight time from thirteen UK airports to fifteen Alpine gateways and which routes have direct winter flights. Regional airports often cost a little more per person and have fewer direct routes, so a resort an hour from Innsbruck can be quicker from Manchester than one two hours from Geneva.

What about Scotland, Scandinavia or North America?

Not yet. The finder covers 33 resorts in France, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Andorra and Bulgaria, which is where most UK packages go. Scandinavia and long-haul are on the list for later.

Are the prices live?

No. Package prices are worked back from the 2026/27 prices Inghams and Skiworld published on 6 November 2026, and lift passes come from the lift companies and published guides. They are then adjusted for your week, airport and accommodation. Use them to compare resorts and to decide where to get quotes, then click through for the live price.
